How the Math Works

All periods are just the annual salary viewed at different scales. Once you know what a job pays per year, everything else follows by simple division — and going the other way, any period you type is scaled up to the annual figure using the number of work hours and working weeks you set. That's why changing the work-schedule fields instantly reshapes all six numbers.

Hourly → Yearly
yearly = hourly × hours per week × working weeks per year. Example: $25/hour × 40 hours × 48 weeks = $48,000.
Yearly → other periods
weekly = yearly ÷ 52; bi-weekly = yearly ÷ 26; monthly = yearly ÷ 12; semi-annual = yearly ÷ 2; hourly = yearly ÷ (hours per week × working weeks).
Any period → Yearly
weekly × 52, bi-weekly × 26, monthly × 12, semi-annual × 2, or hourly × hours × weeks. The annual figure is the single source of truth; the other five are derived from it, so whichever box you type into, the rest stay consistent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert an hourly rate to a yearly salary?

Multiply the hourly rate by the number of work hours per week and by the number of working weeks per year: hourly × 40 hours × 48 weeks = yearly. A $25/hour employee working 40 hours for 48 weeks (4 weeks of vacation) earns $48,000 per year.

Why does this tool use 48 working weeks instead of 52?

Most full-time workers take some vacation, so 48 working weeks (4 weeks off) is a common planning assumption. Change the 'working weeks per year' field to match your actual schedule — the converter adjusts all six periods instantly.

What is bi-weekly pay?

Bi-weekly means paid every two weeks, which works out to 26 pay periods per year. It's different from semi-monthly (twice a month, 24 pay periods per year, on fixed dates like the 15th and the last day of the month).

Does the tool handle overtime or bonuses?

No — it only converts between pay periods using your regular hours. Add overtime, bonuses or commissions manually on top of the base figure before comparing job offers.

Are my salary details stored or sent anywhere?

No. All conversions run as plain arithmetic in JavaScript inside your browser tab. Nothing is saved, transmitted or shared, and closing the page clears everything.
